On Saturday, March 24, Del Monte Fresh Produce and the Miami HEAT hosted an afternoon of fun, giving away hundreds of t-shirts and other prizes outside the Publix Super Market in Kendall, FL. Hundreds of Publix customers lined up for the chance to win a pair of tickets to see the HEAT take on the Dallas Mavericks March 29 at American Airlines Arena.
"This event was a great way to share our excitement of being the official fresh fruit of the Miami HEAT with Del Monte consumers in South Florida," Dennis Christou, Del Monte Fresh Produce's vice president of North America marketing, said in an April 11 press release. "Del Monte Fresh plans to host more fun events like this that encourage people to eat healthier and live healthier lifestyles."
The Miami HEAT Dancers as well as Burnie, the HEAT mascot, and the HEAT Xtreme Team played music and entertained the crowd. The first 100 customers who bought a "Del Monte Gold" Extra Sweet pineapple or "Del Monte" avocados were awarded a pair of tickets.
