Del Campo stretching season

Nogales, AZ — In Culiacan this growing season, Del Campo Supreme Inc. is keeping the same acreage as last year but extending the season with earlier and later production. “Our program this year has the same acreage, but we have different growing stages,” said Diego Ley general manager of Del Campo Supreme Inc. In Culiacan this fall, “we are shipping a little earlier and we will finish a little later. Typically, we start in mid-December, but this year we’ll start in late November. Our typical finish is May 15, but we will wrap up in the second week of June. We will have the same acreage, but we’ll see if the volume is different,” he added.Del-Campo-shade-Culiacan-web

The new planting strategy is to cover what have been production gaps. This strategy will better-suit customer contracts, Ley told The Produce News in his Nogales office.

Del Campo also produces tomatoes and other vegetables in the cooler highlands of Jalisco. This production starts in May and finishes in the first week of January.
