Peri & Sons’ Sweetie Sweets open new season with new look

Conventionally and organically grown Sweetie Sweets from Peri & Sons Farms roll into 2018-19, not only as new-crop onions but also in brand new packaging.

“Consumers, especially millennials, read labels, research products and are interested in knowing more about the health benefits of the product,” she said. “They also want to know more about the company behind the product.”

Moreover, Gibson said, consumers want their purchases to not only be good for them, “but they also want their purchases to be good for the community and good for the environment. Peri & Sons new packaging gives consumers of all ages the information they need, in a fun and engaging way, to make the right choice for themselves and their family.”

The new mesh bags for trademarked Sweetie Sweets provide nutritional data, links to recipes and additional health benefits from a diet that includes onions. There is also a sustainability message from Peri & Sons as well as seals of certification.

Jessica Peri, part of the company’s sales team, said the Nevada shed is packing Sweetie Sweets and other conventional and organic onions at its two lines there.

“We are shipping everything now, a full line of conventional and organic onions, including Sweetie Sweets in both categories, from two packing lines in Yerington,” she said in late September.
