Fresh Farms in full gear on Mexican veg shipping

This winter, Fresh Farms LLC will “be in full gear” shipping vegetables from Guaymas, Sonora. The firm also offers vegetables from Sinaloa; primarily Culiacan but also from the Los Mochis area.

Fresh-Farms-HavelJerry Havel“We’ll have every item you’d expect, said Jerry Havel who is Fresh Farms’ director of sales and marketing. Fresh Farms will be offering more organic products than in the past.

The firm will be shipping colored Bell peppers, large volumes of zucchini, yellow and grey squash, as well as hard squash, English and American cucumbers. Eggplant, beans and fresh pickles will also be distributed by Fresh Farms. Its watermelon deal will start in late March. For the second year, Fresh Farms is also in the sweet corn business.

Fresh Farms, which is based in Rio Rico, AZ, in April will enter its third season of shipping Mexican table grapes from Jalisco. Fresh Farms is the first Mexican grape grower to launch such Jalisco production. In Sonora, Fresh Farms has long been among Mexico’s very top commercial grape producers.

Havel said the Mexican fall vegetable deal “was up and down from volume and quality” wavering. Going into January, production had stabilized.
