WF&FSA’s Management Institute offering education, networking and road trips

The Wholesale Florist & Florist Supplier Association’s 2017 Management Institute will take place Aug. 1-4 at the Embassy Suites Denver Downtown and it is filling up fast, according to the association’s website. The three-day event includes educational programming, networking opportunities, and WF&FSA’s Emerging Leaders Road Trip, where participants will visit some of top wholesale, event, retail, and production facilities in the Denver marketplace.

“An opportunity for training specific to our industry doesn’t come along very often,” said a Management Institute past participant in a written testimonial. “WF&FSA is working hard to bring in top-rated speakers and make sure content included in their presentations are relevant to our industry. And the big plus is the networking that happens within those few short days.”

JON-SCHREIBFEDERJon SchreibfederDuring the education program this year, Joe Ellers, University of Innovative Distribution faculty member, will present the “New Process of Distribution Sales Management,” which will provide a “soup-to-nuts look at sales management from the process side.” This session will focus on creating a clear picture of what you really want and then how to go to the right places to find the right people to hire.

Jon Schreibfeder, president at Effective Inventory Management, Inc. in Coppell, TX, will present a half-day session on “Troubleshooting Inventory Replenishment,” which will explore how your company can use “best in class practices to ensure that you consistently meet or exceed customers’ expectations of product availability.” Topics will include accurate demand forecasting, dealing with unreliable lead times and suppliers, evaluating vendor offers, when to establish a central warehouse or distribution center, and the special challenges of overseas purchasing.

Nancye Combs, president and chief executive officer at H.R. Enterprise Inc. in Louisville, KY, will focus on “Attracting, Engaging and Retaining Millennials.” This session will provide useful and practical tips and take-home materials you can incorporate into your company’s retention programs to help you recruit millennials to meet changing work force demands.
