Ter Laak Orchids crowned 2018 AIPH International Grower of the Year

The International Association of Horticultural Producers crowned Netherlands-based Ter Laak Orchids as International Grower of the Year 2018 at IPM Essen in Germany, according to a news release.

Ter Laak Orchids is a family business that has been growing Phalaenopsis plants since 1980. According to the jury at the competition, Ter Laak’s customers appreciate the results-oriented approach and typical Dutch trading mentality of the company.

TER-LAAK-ORCHIDS Ter Laak Orchids was crowned 2018 AIPH International Grower of the Year at IPM Essen in Germany.“In everything they do, they are guided by their core values: demonstrating ambition, respecting people and the environment, and doing business in a straightforward way,” read the judgment of the jury.

Over 20 nations were present at IPM Essen and prizes were awarded in five categories — Cut Flowers, Finished Plants, Young Plants, Sustainability and Inspiring Business. The winners in each category are as follows:

Cut Flowers

Gold – JUB Holland (Jac. Uittenbogaard & Zonen BV), the Netherlands

Silver – AYURA SAS Pride/Eclipse Flowers, Colombia

Bronze – Saidi-Ronen, Israel

4th Place – Holla Roses, the Netherlands/Ethiopia

Young Plants

Gold – Van Belle Nursery Inc., Canada

Silver – Yunnan YinMore Flower Industry Co., Ltd., China

Finished Plants and Trees

Gold – Ter Laak Orchids, the Netherlands

Silver – Van Belle Nursery, Inc., Canada

Bronze – Yunnan Weijunkai Garden Engineering Co., Ltd., China


Winner – Ter Laak Orchids, the Netherlands

Inspiring Business

Winner – Kwekerij van Wijgerden, the Netherlands.
