Applications for 2018 AFE scholarships due May 1

Applications are now being accepted for more than 20 different scholarships — ranging from $500 to $6,000 — through the American Floral Endowment, according to a news release.

“Awarding scholarships to students is a primary function of AFE,” said AFE chairman Dwight Larimer in the release.

“We understand the financial burden they face and are doing our part to help them,” he added.

Two new scholarships were recently established with AFE, so even more opportunities are available to qualified students. In 2017, the Endowment awarded 20 students with scholarships totaling more than $36,000.

Sophomore, junior, senior and graduate students studying floriculture and horticulture must submit their applications and all supporting materials online by the May 1 deadline.

Descriptions of each scholarship, along with the undergraduate and graduate applications and requirements, are available at www.endowment.org/scholarships.
