FPFC holds first luncheon of 2017

7-Marty-Mihae---1CERRITOS, CA -- Nearly 300 produce professionals turned out for the first Fresh Produce & Floral Council Membership Luncheon of 2017 on Feb. 8 at the Sheraton Cerritos, here. Alfonso Cano of Northgate González Markets was the emcee for the event, which also introduced Connie Stukenberg of the California Avocado Commission as the new FPFC chairwoman for 2017.

Featured speaker Neil Saavedra, who hosts “The Fork Report” on KFI radio in Los Angeles discussed food trends. His rapid-fire speech touched on a few trends that he believes will continue to grow in the next few years. Speaking specifically about produce, Saavedra said in the not-so-distant future he envisions a scenario where “produce will be the center of the dish and meat will be secondary.”

The FPFC will host its first Northern California membership luncheon on Thursday, Feb. 23, at the Castlewood Country Club in Pleasanton, CA.
