Krasdale summit set for May 30

The Krasdale Produce & Floral Summit is set to take place Wednesday, May 30, at the Sheraton LaGuardia East Hotel in Flushing, NY.

This is a new event for the retail organization, according to Josh Padilla, coordinator of produce and floral operations at Alpha 1 Marketing, Krasdale Foods' marketing and merchandising arm.

An estimated 200 people, including Krasdale store owners, employees, speakers and vendors, are expected to attend the inaugural event, Padilla told The Produce News.

Following a welcome at 10 a.m., a Governmental Regulatory Update will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., with speakers Greg Ferrara, executive vice president of the National Grocers Association, and Mike King, in government relations at Krasdale Foods.

From 11:05 a.m. to 11:40 a.m., Moving Floral Forward will be held, featuring speakers Maurica K. Arrington, a sales executive at World Class Flowers, and Robert Debellis, lead designer at World Class Flowers.

From 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. will be the Keynote Luncheon: Fresh from the Farm, with speaker Rick Feighery, vice president of sales at Procacci Bros. Sales Corp.

From 1 p.m. to 1:35 p.m. will be Addressing the Growing Demand for Organic Produce, with speaker Rob Haarburger of Earthbound Farm.

From 1:40 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. will be FMI's The Power of Produce, with speaker Rick Stein, vice president of fresh foods at the Food Marketing Institute.

From 2:35 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. will be Improving Your Produce Merchandising & Operations, with speaker Jonathan Steffy, vice president and general manager at Four Seasons.

A trade show with tabletop displays will be held throughout the day.
