Guatemalan produce imports on the rise

gtpaGuatemala Produce Trade Association reported that January through May imports have experienced increases from various types of fresh fruits and vegetables from Guatemala. According to Foreign Agricultural Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture reports a wide variety of fresh Guatemalan commodities have increased year-over-year.

Cauliflower and broccoli have seen a remarkable 138 percent increase, while strawberries are up 115 percent. Other berries are up 29 percent, with tomatoes up 12 percent, beans up 11 percent and melons up 7 percent.

Membership companies of GPTA have a proven track record for importing quality fresh fruits and vegetables.  “The relationships start at the farm, our member importer companies are focused on reliable exporter partnerships that are consistently delivering quality fresh produce," said Priscilla Lleras-Bush, GPTA coordinator. "This enables the importer to supply their buyers with quality and consistency.”
