kra2FLUSHING, NY — Krasdale's first Produce & Floral Summit, which took place Wednesday, May 30, at the Sheraton LaGuardia East Hotel, here, was a success, and store owners "definitely took away" good information, according to Josh Padilla, coordinator of produce and floral operations at Alpha 1 Marketing, Krasdale Foods' marketing and merchandising arm.

The store owners and other attendees heard presentations on "the changing landscape and how to better compete in this changing environment," Padilla told The Produce News the day after the event.

Among the topics covered by a variety of speakers were a governmental regulatory update, how to move floral forward, a fresh from the farm update, the growing demand for organic produce and how to improving produce merchandising and operations.

A trade show with tabletop displays was also held during the summit.

The company has already decided to hold this summit again next year, but in 2019 it will be held closer to Alpha 1 Marketing's headquarters in White Plains, NY, Padilla noted.
