SEPC superheroes help those in need

sgrontgrorlifeFor the past few years, the Southeast Produce Council has been the title sponsor of the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Strong4Life Superhero Sprint, giving away fresh, free produce to event attendees at Piedmont Park. Since the cancellation of the in-person event this year due to COVID-19, the council wanted to find a way to still get produce in the hands of those in the Atlanta community.

This year, the council held a drive-thru produce box distribution. SEPC arranged for 2,740 produce boxes to be donated and distributed on Aug 29 — the same day as the virtual race — at Passion City Church in Atlanta. The council is thankful for the generous support from its members who contributed their time, energy and resources to make this event possible.

SEPC member volunteers were Dan Vega of SEPC, Brian Jenny of Monterey Mushrooms, Erin Waters of Shuman Farms, Logan McCumber of Shuman Farms, Brandon Parker of Shuman Farms, Faye Westfall of SEPC, Courtney Buchanan of The Produce News, David and Sarah Sherrod and children Henry, Hudson and Hannah of SEPC, Blair Greenhill and daughter Lauren of Nickey Gregory Co. and Andrew Scott of Nickey Gregory Co.

Contributing member companies were Nickey Gregory Co., Pure Flavor and Titan Farms.
